Let’s Move! Make The Future Community Picnic Focuses on Healthier County

MANASSAS, Va. – In celebration of a healthier Prince William County, the Boys and Girls Club and Make the Future are hosting the “Let’s Move! Make The Future/Boys and Girls Club Community Picnic” at 10am on Saturday, April 21 at the Boys & Girls Club of Manassas, 9501 Dean Park Ln. This is a free event designed to get families and the community active by participating in various outdoor sports events like kick-ball, dodge-ball, hula-hoop contests, and will provide information about healthy eating and life style choices.

MANASSAS, Va. – In celebration of a healthier Prince William County, the Boys and Girls Club and Make the Future are hosting the “Let’s Move! Make The Future Community Picnic” at 10am on Saturday, April 21 at the Boys & Girls Club of Manassas, 9501 Dean Park Ln.

Since September, Make The Future, a nonprofit organization that focuses on youth development, has held free workouts for kids 7-18 every Saturday morning in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington. It kicked off its campaign Sept. 23, 2011 at Freedom High School hosted by NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins, courtesy of Novo Nordisk.

Make The Future has been working to collect pledges from 5,000 Prince William County families to dedicate themselves to healthier lifestyles. These families will be honored during the picnic in celebration of National Boys & Girls Club Week. The picnic also will include a Family Olympics, softball, volleyball, kickball, and an assortment of physical activities.

ABOUT MAKE THE FUTURE

Make The Future is a nonprofit organization founded in 2010 by Coach Michael and Dr. Bernadine Futrell that focuses on youth development. In its short existence, Make the Future has grown to be a pillar of strength and change in the metropolitan D.C. community. Make the Future is located at the Boys & Girls Club in Dumfries, Va.
